Fauquier County Winery Tours
1. Informative Winery Tour Route

A family owned and operated winery, Gray Ghost Vineyards is the dream turned reality for Al and Cheryl Kellert. The Vineyard was established in 1987 and since the winery’s establishment in 1994, Gray Ghost has garnered over 3,000 medals for outstanding wines and produces over 4,000 cases of handcrafted wine annually.
At Gray Ghost Vineyard, you will enjoy a tour of the facility and wine tasting led by Al, learning everything you ever wanted and more about wine and the wine-making process.

Owners Pandit and Sudha Patil had a long-standing dream to own a vineyard one day and in 2009, Narmada Winery was established in Rappahannock County, VA. Throughout their married life, Pandit and Sudha traveled the globe and kindled their passion for fine wine.
Sudha’s knowledge of complex spices enable her to coax latent flavors from her grapes and to produce graceful wines. Narmada wines have achieved more than 40 gold medals in national and international competitions!
2. Leisurely Winery Tour Route

Philip Carter Winery has deep roots in the Virginia wine industry, that go as far back as the late 1700s. Charles Carter was instrumental in establishing wine cultivation and wine making in Virginia. In 1762, he sent the London Royal Society of the Arts bottles of his wine, made from American grape and was awarded a gold medal as the first person to make a “spirited attempt towards the accomplishment of their views, respecting wine in America”
In 2008, Philip Carter Strother, a direct descendent of the Carter family, founded the Philip Carter Winery.

Nestled in the Piedmont region of Virginia, east of the Blue Ridge Mountains and west of the fall line, sits Barrel Oak Winery. Since the first vine was planted in 2006, they have remained committed to providing premium wine experience.
The 30-acre vineyard is home to 10 varietals growing including Norton, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Manseng, Petit Verdot, Seyval Blanc, Vidal Blanc, Traminette, and Chambourcin. Enjoy amazing beers and wines, delicious pizzas, and gorgeous views. It was acquired by Kavelle and Ken Bajaj in 2022.
3. Historic Winery Tour Route

The Morais family has been crafting wine for more than a century. In Portugal, the tradition of winemaking has been handed down through generations. By blending this time-honored family legacy with Virginia's vibrant winemaking history, the Morais family has established a renowned landmark in the area. The winery welcomed its first visitors in 2011, offering an exquisite wine tasting experience that includes four port-style wines and a delightful chocolate pairing option

The vineyard, Meriwether, is the oldest Chardonnay vineyard in Virginia, producing wine from its 30 acres for over 40 years. Chris Pearmund bought Meriwether Vineyard in 1996 and in 2022, he launched the 47th winery in Virginia - Pearmund Cellars. Chris was recently voted as the best winemaker in Virginia by Virginia Wine Lovers Magazine and Pearmund Cellars as Virginia’s best winery several times.

4. Specialty Fauquier County Winery Tour Route (up to 10 guests)

Delaplane Cellars was founded in 2007 by Jim and Betsy Dolphin. Jim Dolphin made wine at home for a decade before purchasing the winery, which has panoramic views of the Cobbler Mountains. In 2019, friends, Daniel and Katie Gomez, Nicholas Jordan, and Thomas Duckenfield purchased Delaplane Cellars, which is now one of a few minority-owned wineries in Virginia. The winery focuses on Bordeaux-inspired wines, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Merlot, and Tannat.

5. Loudoun County Pioneers - Hillsboro Winery Tour Route

Among Leesburg wineries, 8 Chains North is most known as a family-owned producer of quality handcrafted wines. The winery includes an inviting Tasting Room, extensive outdoor seating, a dog park, and stunning vineyard views.
The winery is owned by Edz Sturans and Cissi DeMarco, and retains the former owner as Chief Winemaker and Viticulturist. Their focus and attention to detail is in the vineyard, where great wines are made. This philosophy is evident in their handcrafted Old World-style wines. Hillsborough is a family owned & operated winery, brewery & vineyard specializing in the small batch production of complex wines that are in harmony with the terrain, as well as crafting quality beers brewed. In 2001, this historic site was purchased by the Baki family, who have been crafting award winning wines for over 20 years and manage over 36 acres of vines. 6. The Delectable Winery Tour Route

Nate and Sarah met in 2012, married in 2013, and founded the Walsh Family Winery in 2014. Both have backgrounds in winemaking, vineyard management, and wine education. They created a winery that is committed to supporting the local community and agriculture, empowering entrepreneurs, and fostering a welcoming and inspiring environment.

In 2012, three families, Peter and Nancy Deliso, Wendy and Chris Charron, and Carl and Erin DiManno, bought Grandale Farm with a vision to create a warm and welcoming place for people to come together and enjoy wine, music, food, and art and founded 868 Estate Vineyards. These days they produce 3,500 cases of wine annually, host summer music series, and have won numerous awards for their wines.
7. Middleburg Winery Tour Route

Lisa and Bryce embarked on their biggest adventure when they purchased Cana Vineyards in October 2018. Cana's property is roughly 43 acres, of which 8 acres are plated to Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Manseng, and Norton. Cana's winemaker - Malenie Natoli is the first woman to win the Virginia Governor's Cup in the competition's modern history. Enjoy the gorgeous countryside views and their award-winning wines.

​50 West is a farm vineyard with a gorgeous tasting room offering stunning views of the Bull Run Mountain range. Award winning wines, welcoming staff, delicious snacks, and sophisticated atmosphere. 50 West was launched in 2015 and in June 2022, the Canneys sold both Sunset Hills and 50 West wineries to Chris and Katie Key. Chris is a native of Loudoun County, and met Katie at a California wine tasting event and the rest is history.
